Golf Injuries & Performance

Dr. Makin is a TPI Certified Gold Fitness Instructor (TPI CGFI). He is the only TPI CGFI medical professional in Utah County, and one of only 3 or 4 in the whole state.

Q: What is TPI?    A: TPI stands for Titleist Performance Institute, it is a branch of Titleist (yes,” the number one golf ball in golf” Titleist) which is deals specifically with the physical aspect of golf.  This includes golf fitness, nutrition, swing biomechanics, mental and emotional aspects, etc.

Q: What does this mean to the golfer?   A: It means that you no longer have to battle the physical pains & limitations affecting your golf game, as well as inconsistent swing patterns.  Your clubs are great, but they can only do so much! Every single player must address the physical aspect of the game if he wants to take his game to the next level, after all your body is the one instrument you use every stroke of the game.

Q: How does it all work?   A: Like any type of effective program, you must start out with an initial evaluation, then create a custom program and then retest for progress after following the program for an adequate amount of time.

There are 4 main parts to the evaluation: 1- History/Questionnaire 2- Golf Swing Analysis (using a high speed camera) 3- Golf Fitness Tests 4- Spinal & Joint Health Tests.
